Roof Support Structure

Roof Support Structure focuses on Ringlock-based supporting structures used below, beside or around temporary event roofs.

As part of our Ringlock Structure system, Ringlock provides a modular way to build the vertical and three-dimensional supporting zones required by large temporary roof configurations.

From our project experience, the roof and the structure supporting it should not always be treated as the same system. In many event projects, Ringlock forms the supporting structure while aluminum truss forms the elevated roof framework. Each system is used where its characteristics are more practical.

How Ringlock Works in a Roof Structure

A typical temporary roof can be understood as two related structural parts:

Roof Framework
The upper roof may use aluminum truss to create the main and secondary spans required for the roof geometry, equipment positions and covering.

Supporting Structure
Ringlock standards, horizontal members and diagonal bracing create the supporting zones that establish the required height and transfer the roof structure toward the base.

The basic relationship can therefore be understood as:

Roof Framework → Ringlock Support Structure → Base → Ground

This division is particularly useful for larger temporary structures. Aluminum truss provides a relatively lightweight modular solution for elevated spans, while Ringlock can efficiently create large supporting volumes from repeated structural components.

Roof Support Changes with the Project

A roof support structure is not determined by roof width alone.

When we develop this type of project, we also consider the relationship between the roof dimensions, supporting height, structural layout and equipment arrangement.

A wider or deeper roof may require a different supporting layout. Increasing the structural height changes the vertical configuration and bracing arrangement. Adding LED screens, line arrays, lighting equipment or additional covered areas can also change the requirements around the roof-support system.

For this reason, we treat the Ringlock structure and the aluminum roof as separate modules first, and then consider how they work together as one complete structure.

This approach also makes customization more practical. A project can retain a similar roof concept while changing the Ringlock support height or supporting zones, or retain a similar Ringlock structure while adapting the upper roof geometry.

Roof Support Within a Complete Event Structure

In many large concert projects, the roof support does not exist independently.

It may work together with a Stage & Platform Structure, side wings, LED support areas, sound support structures and access systems.

This is why our Roof Support Structure cases focus not only on the roof dimensions, but also on how the supporting structure is configured and how it connects functionally with the rest of the event structure.

For projects where Ringlock and aluminum systems play substantial structural roles together, the complete configuration may also be analyzed under our Hybrid Structure cases.

The purpose is not to present one fixed Ringlock roof design. It is to show how different temporary roof requirements lead to different supporting structures and how the major structural systems work together in practice.
