Stage & Platform Structure

Stage & Platform Structure focuses on temporary performance stages and elevated platforms built with modular Ringlock supporting systems.

As part of our Ringlock Structure system, these structures use repeated standards, ledgers, diagonal braces and adjustable bases to create the supporting grid below the stage surface.

From our project experience, the main advantage of Ringlock for large stage platforms is its ability to build a continuous supporting structure across different widths, depths and heights. Instead of treating each stage deck as an independent supporting unit, the complete platform is developed as one modular grid.

How a Ringlock Stage Is Configured

A typical Ringlock stage can be understood through three main layers:

Stage Surface
Aluminum-framed stage decks or other specified platform panels form the usable performance surface.

Supporting Grid
Ringlock standards and ledgers establish the main vertical and horizontal structure below the platform. The grid is arranged according to the stage dimensions, deck layout and required platform height.

Bracing & Base System
Diagonal braces provide restraint within the supporting structure, while adjustable bases allow the lower structure to be positioned and leveled according to the project configuration.

The basic structural relationship is:

Stage Deck → Supporting Grid → Adjustable Base → Ground

For larger or higher platforms, the configuration becomes more than a simple multiplication of stage panels. Shared standards, ledgers, bracing zones, stairs and other functional areas must be considered as parts of the complete structure.

Different Projects Require Different Stage Grids

A 10 × 8m stage, a 20 × 18m concert stage and a long temporary platform may all use the same basic Ringlock system, but they do not necessarily use the same structural arrangement.

When the required stage dimensions change, the supporting grid changes with them.

When the platform height changes, the vertical arrangement, horizontal connections, bracing and access may also need to change.

Additional requirements such as roof-support zones, LED structures, sound wings or backstage areas can further change the relationship between the stage platform and the surrounding structure.

This is why we treat a Ringlock stage as a configurable structural system rather than a fixed-size product.

For larger projects, the stage platform may also become one module within a complete temporary event structure. Ringlock can form the platform below, while aluminum truss, roof systems, LED supports or other structures are integrated around it. The broader relationship between these modular systems is explained in our Modular System Logic for Stage, Truss & Scaffold.

Stage & Platform Project Cases

The cases in this category focus on practical stage configurations rather than presenting one universal design.

Each case may examine:

  • stage dimensions and height;

  • platform layout;

  • Ringlock grid configuration;

  • stage deck quantity;

  • standards, ledgers and diagonal braces;

  • stairs and access;

  • structural modules;

  • component quantities and functions;

  • relationship with roof, LED, sound or other event structures.

For projects involving several structural systems, the stage platform may also connect with our Hybrid Structure cases.

The purpose of these case breakdowns is simple: to show how different stage requirements lead to different Ringlock configurations, and how those configurations are built from repeatable modular components.
