Access Structure

Access Structure focuses on modular temporary structures that provide safe and practical areas for people to reach, move between and work at different positions within a project.

Unlike structures designed primarily to support a stage, roof, LED screen or sound system, access structures are developed around people, movement and working positions.

From our project experience, access requirements appear in many different applications. A technician may need a mobile structure to reach an installation point, workers may need an elevated platform for assembly or maintenance, or a larger temporary structure may require stairs and walkways connecting different working levels.

For this reason, DragonStructure treats access as a structural system in its own right rather than simply as an accessory added after the main structure has been completed.

Three Main Types of Access Structure

Our Access Structure cases are organized into three main directions.

Mobile Access Structure

Mobile access structures provide temporary elevated access while retaining the ability to move the complete structure between working positions.

Aluminum mobile scaffold towers are a typical example.

Their relatively lightweight modular construction makes them practical for indoor installation, event setup, maintenance and other applications where workers need to reach different positions without constructing a permanent access structure at each location.

Working Platform Structure

Working platforms create temporary elevated areas where personnel can stand, work and position tools or equipment.

Unlike a mobile access tower, the main purpose is not necessarily movement of the complete structure. The priority is creating a usable working area at the required height and position.

Depending on the project, working platforms can be independent structures or become part of a larger temporary structural system.

Stair & Walkway Structure

Stairs and walkways connect different levels and working areas.

They may provide access to stages, FOH structures, technical platforms, temporary seating or larger Ringlock structures.

In some projects, these components are integrated directly into the main structural system. In others, aluminum stairs, platforms or walkway modules can be adapted to work with another supporting structure.

The important point is that access is part of the functional design of the structure, not simply a final attachment.

From Access Equipment to Access Structure

A ladder can solve a simple height-access problem.

A modular access structure solves a broader problem:

How does a person reach the required position, work there, and move safely between the necessary levels?

That difference becomes increasingly important as the project grows.

A mobile tower may be sufficient for temporary installation work at one location. A larger project may require a working platform with a wider usable area. A complex temporary structure may require several stairs, intermediate platforms and walkways connecting different functional zones.

The configuration therefore starts with the required working height, working area, access route and application, and then develops into the appropriate modular structure.

Access Within Temporary Event Structures

Access systems also play an important role inside larger event structures.

A Stage & Platform Structure requires practical access between ground and stage level.

A FOH & Control Structure may require stairs connecting several technical working levels.

A Seating & Grandstand Structure requires access routes connecting audience areas and different platform levels.

The same principle applies to installation and maintenance. Workers may need temporary access to lighting positions, LED structures, sound systems or elevated structural connections during assembly and servicing.

This is where access structures connect naturally with the wider DragonStructure system.

Access Structure Beyond Event Applications

Access Structure is intentionally not limited to concerts and events.

Our aluminum mobile access and working-platform systems are also relevant to indoor construction, equipment installation, maintenance and other temporary work-at-height applications.

This gives the system an important role within DragonStructure: some access solutions can work independently, while others can be integrated with Ringlock or event structures.

When different structural systems are intentionally combined—for example, aluminum stairs or working platforms integrated into a Ringlock structure—the project may also become part of our Hybrid Structure cases.

The purpose of these cases is to show how a practical access requirement develops into a modular structure, whether the application is event setup, installation, maintenance or temporary construction work.
